How to update NSE EOD data and F&O Data for Amibroker

By Bhaveek Patel 28 Comments

I have shared a couple of free databases for Amibroker on NSE EOD database and NSE F&O data. In past, I was unable to share the utility that can help us to update EOD data daily.

I am sharing the free utility for downloading the EOD data from NSE servers. GetBhavCopy is a freeware application for downloading EOD data. You can download data for NSE cash, BSE cash, and NSE F&O on daily basis.

I am currently using Amibroker for practicing technical analysis. By features one of the most popular software for analysis and trading. I see it is a little costly, but it is value for money.

Spider is one of the most advance software for scanning needs. Owning spider software is a costly affair with more than Rs.50k

Here is the most detailed step by step guide.

Link for EOD Database for Amibroker

Setting up GetBhavcopy Application:

  1. Download the getbhavcopy application.
  2. Open the Getbhavcopy application and click on the option.
  3. Under the General tab select Ignore weekend and click next.
  4. In equity NSE check download NSE data.
  5. Under the download directory give the path where EOD download files will be stored.
  6. Check download open interest.
  7. Check index volume and click next.
  8. Just ignore equity BSE (I love NSE due to huge volumes and liquidity).
  9. Under Futures NSE check Download Futures data.
  10. Give a path where data will be stored. Click on the save button to save the settings.

    Bhaveek-ji,

Great sir thanks a lot, my EOD is working kool. Now trying to set-up real-time intra-day. Hope this time I won’t trouble you much by asking many questions. πŸ™‚

Can we perform stock-screening, on EOD basis, in AmiBroker, based on Buy-Sell strategy?
By using a strategy query Like generating a list of stock which have given a negative cross-over of 5-10 EMA and RSI < 50 and WilliamPR < 40 and trading below intra-week-low."

It would be great if we get this feature in intra-day set-up also to identify the break-outs and break-downs.

    Thanks in advance,
    Warm Regards,
    Abhay.

Abhay, Nice to hear that you have successfully setup EOD database. For stock screening as you have said in your previous comment, you need to write an AFL (amibroker’s programming language) in amibroker for that purpose. I am programmer but not a die hard kind. πŸ˜› Let me see if I can create it for you, but it consumes much time πŸ™‚
Till then you can setup the NSE intraday database.

  4. Abhay Vaidya says

    Bhaveek-sir,

Yes, you’re true, AFL programming would take much time. I was thinking that there, in AmiBroker, might be some in-built strategies or scanning templates which would have enabled us.
    Anyway, thanks a lot..!!

Is it below last weeks low? Also this 5-10 crossover do you need it on a Weekly basis,Please clarify.
